Independent for Grande Prairie Alberta and the Peace River Riding

A True Voice for Intelligent Reform in the Peace River Riding

A party government failed a confidence vote in parliament to bring about this election but haven’t we all lost confidence in party candidates anyways? The rest of Canada might not want another election, but maybe that’s because they have no other good choices running. Here in the Peace River riding you do have a fresh option. My name is Russ Toews and I’m standing as an independent.

I know you’re disillusioned: I share your feeling of being let down. You want reform but at the same time, you fear too much change. You’ve had hope before only to be disappointed at the lack of any result. Face up to the inevitable fact that we will never get substantive change from a political party.

But don’t worry! You have a chance to vote independently.  A better way forward is on your horizon.  The change we need most is almost invisible: it’s just a shift in attitude translating directly into a reform in performance. Just thinking about something differently can modify the whole perspective to a remarkable overall effect.  An excellent example is my proposal for better taxation. SOS platform

We dislike paying income tax but at the same time we know sufficient government revenue is necessary and we do want to contribute our fair share. We also deeply resent how the bureaucracy fritters away our hard-earned money and we wish we didn’t have to hear that ‘eliminating waste‘ crap for the umpteenth time. We can easily remedy both of those concerns. Do read my SOS platform and learn how an almost imperceptible switch in the base premise automatically brings a profoundly different and decidedly superior end result.

There are many ways that just tiny and painless modifications of basic concepts can yield fantastic improvements in the way our systems work for us. Let me share those with you in hopes of building a better tomorrow.  The drug epidemic threatens all our kids.  Education alone is not the answer.  I know what’s causing the problem and we can fix it!  I know how really fight crime and how to reverse the trend of increasing violence.  We can solve these and other social problems without any detrimental effect to our lifestyles. I can absolutely promise you that.  But those issues are not on my platform yet:  Elect me first and get me working for you.

Would you like to experience optimism? Do want to see a system that is worthy of your respect? I’m doing my part towards that goal. I’m accepting the limitations imposed by campaigning with total integrity and none of your money. I’m showing you by my actions that I’m different. Let me prove to you that a politician can be direct, honest, innovative and highly effective in bringing reform. Trust and then vote or just elect and see if I can deliver.

You already know exactly what to expect from party politicians, aren’t you due for someone improved and new?  Count on me and make your vote actually count for a change.

Lift a hoof and say “OINK”

9 April 2011

“All in favor of taxing overtime pay lift your hoof and say OINK.”

“Of all income tax, I think the piggish tax on overtime is the worst. People spend the extra time away from their personal lives to pay off bills or to save for something special. We DON’T work it just to have the greedy government steal more.”

Did you notice my alluding to income tax as ‘theft’? Well, income tax is nothing short of armed robbery. Yes, armed. If you’re convicted of tax evasion, police with guns will take you to a prison where the guards all carry firearms too. And what actual authority does a government have to take this tax, or to punish you with non-compliance if you refuse? The true answer is NONE.

Are you a serf? Does the land that you dwell on actually own your body? Or do you believe that you are free? The British North Act created the Canadian government. But what right did a gang of now long-dead politicians have to consign us to slavery to a parliament? Again, the factual answer is NONE whatsoever.

“YIKES! Did that sound like anarchy?” Chris Warkentin once accused me of being an anarchist when I was trying to explain an innovative way of having real justice and an actual reduction in crime. But my view of what government could be and should be is NOT anarchy. The better name for it might just be honesty because answers to most of our social problems can be found by examining them truthfully.

No. A government does not have any rational right to tax free people. Companies and corporations though, are entities created by laws. They are slaves to prosperity and since our laws are the true owner, we DO have the right to tax them. Plus doing so would liberate people from the distasteful task of accounting ourselves to government. So, why can’t we look at that and decide?

Obviously, we can’t debate the issue of income tax, because the government does NOT want to question the legitimacy of their gravy train. So I’m running for office. Vote for me and I’ll expend my every effort in putting income tax on the table – and if at all possible, onto the chopping block as well.

Even though you know that a government requires revenue to meet public needs, do you still resent paying taxes and the government that taxes you so heavily? Perhaps your irritation is born in your innermost belief a government has no right to enslave you. Well, we can do something about that. You can send me to speak on your behalf.

Vote for Russ Toews in the electoral riding of Peace River.
